The American Lung Association will be offering an exciting new adult asthma program. In providing adult education, the ALA looks upon the medical community to help facilitate programs as Arizona is so wide spread and no community should be left out.
It is our hope that RCP's from all over Arizona will have an opportunity to provide adult asthma education to their communities if they so desire. If you are interested in participating in this exciting and much needed service, please see the contact information below.
The overall goal of this program is to reduce the illness and disability due to asthma by educating adults to better manage their disease. The program outcomes will be measured by pre-and post test evaluation. Outcome measures include increased asthma knowledge and decision making skills, increased self-management self-efficacy, and exacerbations of asthma.
The program is available in both English and Spanish and is targeted to adults with a recent diagnosis of asthma or those with persistent disease.
Breath Well, Live Well will utilize the American Lung Association Train-the-trainer model to disseminate the program. We currently are seeking facilitators with basic asthma knowledge who are able to effectively interact and educate a variety of adult audiences to get a desired outcome. We will provide training and materials (each trained facilitator will receive a Facilitator's kit and ten participant workbooks) so that the trainer can educate adult asthmatics in their service territory.
This is a great opportunity to bring adult asthma education to your healthcare setting. There is no cost for the training and CEU(s) are being requested for Respiratory Care Practitioners.
